Lynda Zimmer Artist
Lynda Zimmer always believed she would be an artist. Growing up in New York, she frequented all of the famous art museums, absorbing the different styles. A move to southern California presented an opportunity for a second degree in graphic design and study with several local artists. She became active with the Mission Viejo Fine Arts Committee and Saddleback Art League, serving as president for 4 years. She exhibited locally, won several awards, and was fortunate to sell her art.
Lynda draws her inspiration from nature and travel. She loves painting large format flowers, bringing tiny petals into giant proportions. Seascapes are also a favorite subject in all media and sizes, as well as travel memories. Photos are taken wherever she goes, brought into a graphics program for digital sketching, and then painted with expressive strokes of the brush using bright colors.
Currently living in Arizona, she retired from her graphic design career to enjoy more time for painting and other fun pursuits.
Lynda is a member of the Arizona Watercolor Society, as well as a member of the Artisan League at Trilogy in Vistancia.
Artists Statement:
Beauty is all around us. I look for strong contrasts in color and proportion, with Mother Nature for inspiration. I enjoy reimagining scenes with a new view to make my paintings unique.
Just For Fun
I found this surf board in Laguna Beach. The owner said it had little value for surfing. I thought it would make an excellent canvas for a painting of the area. Look closely and you will see the original sticker for Kane Gardens Surfboards.
